This morning when I started the Macbook Pro 13', OSX 10.9.5, a pop-up box came up asking me to enter my system password for the 'completer' to make changes. I cancelled the box without giving my password. In the Apple support community for OSX 10.7 general opinion seems to be that it is caused by Genieo, but I don't find it or any related items in my computer. I think the culprit is 'Adobe Flash Player Install Manager' in Applications-Utitlities. I must have downloaded it thinking it was a legit Adobe Flash update. If I try to trash it I get a pop-up saying Finder wants to make a change and asking for password. How can I remove this?

Hi, I have ran into the problem of what seems to be a malware virus. I have read other discussions on this topic and nothing has seemed to fix this on my mac. Everytime I go onto a popular site (Facebook/Youtube/Google etc.) I am presented with a message saying 'WARNING! Your flash player may be out of date' which then leads to quite clearly a fake Adobe website asking me to download. Lantastic 7.0 download.
I have not downloaded the program as my flash player is up to date (I have checked through preferences). I have ran a full website date clearance of all the computers in the household (including my phone) and I have completely reset my router to factory settings and it still persists.
The message is not appearing on any other computer in the house apart from my mac so I'm guessing this is where the problem lies and it is not intact from my router.
